My perfect hideaway: Alon Surf Stay Resort

Alon Surf Stay Resort

Flew back to Catanduanes mainly for Carorian islet hopping but who knew I’d stumble upon another gem.

After booking my plane tickets, did think of where to stay while in Catanduanes but I didn’t want to sleep in Virac throughout my stay. Well, what do you know, I saw another post on social media and it blew me away.

Had a good sense of FOMO, I then asked Ms. Carmel Bonifacio-Garcia, the Tourism Officer of Catanduanes province what’s the name of the property and how to book a room. Apparently, it’s right where I wanted to stay, in Puraran Beach, Baras, Catanduanes. Immediately I inquired and reserved a room.

The resort name is Alon Surf Stay, Alon means wave and this resort is nestled on top of a hill, overlooking Puraran Beach, Baras, Catanduanes which is a known surf spot of the province.

Alon only has three rooms as of today, two air-conditioned rooms and one fan kubo room.

I booked the fan room since I’d be wandering somewhere the whole day and it’s quite cold at night no need for air conditioning.

On my first night, I was sharing the property with a family of six, who are local tourists from Virac. And the kids loved the pool, but mind you, it’s ten feet deep. On my second night, the whole place was mine! Perfect for meditation and or book reading with a fantastic view!

I literally spent my last afternoon staring at the ocean.

This resort can sleep-in 18 people the most. Room rates range from Php 600 (US$13)- Php 2,500 (US$51)per person per day .

And for the food, there’s an in-house cook who can attend to your tummy needs.

Even though the island was hit by a typhoon early this year, rooms are well maintained and clean. Except for the part where there are bugs or insects around, well the struggle of tropical life. Overall, I had a great time here and will surely come back!
